Our annual trip to the Indiana State Fair is always one of my favorite weekends of the year. My parents drove up from Kentucky, and my aunt, cousins, sister, and I drove down from South Bend to Indianapolis.
We spent Friday at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. I had never been, and I think I had as much fun as my four-year-old cousin. If you have kids and are visiting the Indianapolis area, it’s a no-brainer; they will love it. Bumblebee, dinosaur fossils, and recreations of hieroglyphics, a mummy coffin, and Terracotta soldiers, as well as lots of interactive activities. I especially enjoyed the Take Me There: Egypt exhibit, and my sister and I enjoyed Story Avenue as well. Because we were traveling with two very young children, we skipped The Power of Children, which is an exhibit for kids ages 8 and up. I did a quick walk through and was very impressed.
At one month old, my cousin Max was maybe a bit too young to appreciate the museum, but my mom wanted to leave a mark for him anyway.
We spent Saturday at the State Fair, and although attendance seemed to be down due to the tragic events of the previous week, we made the most of our time with rides, games, and as much food as we could fit in our stomachs. [I recommend Hook’s– they make THE BEST chocolate soda I’ve ever tasted.]
Hope everyone had a safe/fun/relaxing weekend!
